Privacy Policy — Hoofwise

Hoofwise (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a horse-care management app published by Qingdao Ketai Software Co., Ltd. We built Hoofwise to be private by design. This policy explains what data the app handles and how it is protected.

The short version: Your horse records stay on your device and in your own private iCloud account. We do not have a server, we cannot see your data, and we never sell it or use it to track you.

1. Information we do not collect

We do not operate accounts or servers for Hoofwise. The app does not send your horse profiles, care schedules, expenses, documents, photos, health notes, or any personal content to us or to any third party. We have no access to this information.

2. Where your data is stored

On your device. Everything you enter is saved locally on your iPhone or iPad.
Your private iCloud. If you are signed in to iCloud, the app uses Apple’s CloudKit to store your data in your own private iCloud database so it can sync across your devices and be restored on a new device. This data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy and is not accessible to us.

3. Device permissions

Camera & Photos — used only when you choose to attach or capture a photo (for example a hoof, wound, or document). Photos stay in your records.
Location — optional. If you enable location-based features, your location is used on-device to check proximity to reported disease outbreaks. It is not collected or transmitted to us.
Notifications — used to deliver the care reminders you schedule (farrier, vaccines, Coggins, etc.).

You can review or revoke any of these permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app.

4. Purchases

Optional Hoofwise Pro subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. Apple handles all payment information; we do not receive or store your payment details. Purchase and entitlement status is validated on-device.

5. Analytics, advertising and tracking

Hoofwise contains no advertising, no third-party analytics SDKs, and no tracking. We do not build user profiles and we do not share or sell any data. There is nothing to opt out of.

6. Data retention and deletion

You are in control of your data. You can delete individual records inside the app, use “Delete all data” in Settings, or remove the app entirely. To delete data stored in iCloud, you can also manage Hoofwise data from iOS Settings → your name → iCloud. Because we hold no copy of your data, deletion on your devices and iCloud removes it completely.

7. Children’s privacy

Hoofwise is intended for a general audience of horse owners and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Not medical or veterinary advice

Health, vitals, and medication features (including the competition withdrawal calculator) are record-keeping aids and reference tools only. They are not a diagnosis and do not replace professional veterinary advice. Always follow your veterinarian and the current official USEF/FEI rules.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
