Frequently asked questions
How do reminders work?
Each care task (farrier, deworming, vaccines, dental, Coggins, and your own custom tasks) runs on its own cycle. Hoofwise sends up to three reminders per task — 7 days before, on the due day, and 3 days overdue — at the time you choose in Settings → Reminders. You can mute any single task. Make sure notifications are allowed for Hoofwise in iOS Settings.
How does syncing across devices work?
Sign in to the same iCloud account on each device and keep iCloud Drive enabled. Your horses and records are stored in your private iCloud and appear on all your devices automatically. Getting a new iPhone? Just sign in to iCloud and your data comes back — no account or password to remember.
I paid for Pro on another device. How do I restore it?
Open Settings → Hoofwise Pro → Restore Purchases. As long as you use the same Apple ID, your subscription or lifetime unlock will be restored.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Pro users can export expenses to CSV (great for taxes) from the Finance tab, and export a care-history PDF and digital passport from a horse’s profile. Your data is always yours.
Is Hoofwise a substitute for a vet?
No. Health notes, vitals, the emergency triage guide and the medication withdrawal calculator are record-keeping and reference tools only — not a diagnosis. Always follow your veterinarian and the current official USEF/FEI rules.
How accurate is the competition withdrawal calculator?
It uses published, approximate USEF/FEI detection/withdrawal guidance for common medications and is provided for reference only. Rules change — always confirm against the latest official USEF/FEI lists and your veterinarian before competing.
What’s free and what’s Pro?
Free includes one horse, three recurring care tasks, the current month of expenses, and reminders. Pro unlocks unlimited horses and tasks, full expense history and reports, the digital passport and PDF exports, sharing, AI photo tools, and the withdrawal calculator.
How do I delete my data?
Delete individual records in the app, or use Settings → Data & Sync → Delete all data. Removing the app deletes on-device data; you can also remove Hoofwise data from iOS Settings → your name → iCloud.
